10/05/2012 : Le parvis de la gare Saint-Charles accueille les architectures de Hundertwasser

Tout au long du mois de mai, la gare Saint-Charles propose une exposition des oeuvres architecturales de l'artiste Hundertwasser. De grandes photographies accueillent voyageurs et passants sur le parvis, mises en place par Gares & Connexions.

 

25/04/2012 : Relay France and Servex France selected to pilot the 'La boutique du quotidien' in-station retail concept.

Gares & Connexions has chosen Relay France, in partnership with Casino, and Servex France, in partnership with Monoprix to open the first 'Boutiques du Quotidien' in 8 stations in France by the end of 2012. Relay has won 2 contracts, firstly for Aix Ville, Annecy and Dreux stations, and secondly for Châtellerault and Epinay-Villetaneuse stations. Servex France has won one contract for Charleville-Mézières, Saint-Quentin and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines stations.

25/04/2012 : Cannes Multimodal Transport Hub: ambition taking shape

From 9 May2012, the opening of a new drop-off point at the upper forecourt outside Cannes station, above the railway line, will relieve congestion on Rue Jean Jaurès and allow work to be carried out on the lower forecourt.

 

20/04/2012 : The MAP festival comes to Toulouse Matabiau and Bordeaux St Jean stations in May

Gares & Connexions are taking part in the fourth MAP amateur photography festival of Toulouse, which takes place between 1 and31 May 2012, in association with Toulouse Matabiau and Bordeaux Saint Jean stations.

17/04/2012 : Square Narvik - the last stage in the development of the Marseille Saint Charles transport hub

The transport hub at Marseille Saint Charles has been in use since 2007, following large-scale redevelopment of the station and its surroundings. It grown significantly, and is now used by more than 10 million passengers per year.

11/04/2012 : Opening of a medical diagnostics laboratory in Marseille Saint-Charles station

New innovative station services have been appearing since 2010, with the aim of catering for the day-to-day needs of passengers and passers-by. A left-luggage service has been operating and fruit and veg baskets have been on sale in Marseille St Charles station since 2011. On 6 March 2012, a new phase was entered with the opening of a medical diagnostics laboratory.

 

05/04/2012 : Monop'station, an innovative concept at Chartres station

On 6 April 2012, a new MONOP'STATION shop was unveiled, the result of a partnership with the NS (Dutch Railways) marketing subsidiary Servex. It has a simple and practical design and offers a wide range of products including food, fresh coffee, oven-fresh pastries and essentials.

13/03/2012 : Inauguration of the new P1 Alsace car park in Paris Est station

The P1 Alsace car park is being inaugurated today in Paris Est station. It has been open for use since 11 January 2012, and offers new more accessible, user-friendly and modern car parking with direct access to the station platforms.

 

02/03/2012 : Poetry readings in Le Havre station in March

To mark the 14th Printemps des poètes festival, Le Havre station will be celebrating poetry in March. Poems from the 17th to the 19th century will be read aloud on the station concourse. Poems will also be handed out to passengers and people passing through the station so they can read them on the train.

14/02/2012 : Bayonne station in a flowers first for Valentine's day

Gares & Connexions is providing passengers using Bayonne station with an automatic flower vending machine, starting on 14 February, Valentine's Day.

 

02/02/2012 : Two RER C stations get new names

Versailles Rive Gauche station is changing its name and getting a new look. Since the current name confuses tourists and the town of Versailles is served by three SNCF stations at varying distances from the famous château, the name of this closest station is going to be changed. Another RER C station is also getting a new name. Pont du Garigliano - Boulevard Victor station will now be called Pont du Garigliano - Hôpital Européen Georges Pompidou.

Passengers and passers-by are in for a unprecedented treat at Le Havre station on Friday 13 January from 5pm until 8 pm.
The Dérézo Theatre Company is putting on an unusal show, in partnership with Gares & Connexions (G&C), the SNCF business unit that is responsible for managing and developing the 3000 French stations.

 

22/12/2011 : New Elior Group restaurants at Paris-Lyon station from summer 2012

Gares & Connexions has selected the bid by Elior, a specialist in concession restaurants, from the call for tenders launched on 14 February 2011 for new restaurant areas in Paris-Lyon station. These new eateries on level 2 of the extension under the new glass canopy in 'Hall 2' (the concourse with numbered platforms, often called the 'Yellow' zone) will open next summer.

19/12/2011 : The Château of Versailles comes to Paris Austerlitz and Paris Nord stations

Throughout December, Gares & Connexions and the Château of Versailles are giving the people of Paris a different view of Versailles with two brand new exhibitions at Gare du Nord and Gare d’Austerlitz stations as part of the “Changer de décor” campaign.

16/12/2011 : Paris Montparnasse station celebrates short films on 21 December

On Wednesday 21 December, Paris Montparnasse station will be hosting the 'Le Jour le plus court' short films festival run by the National Centre of Cinematography (CNC). Passengers and passers-by coming through the station will have the opportunity to enjoy around twenty films between 8am and 8pm, from directors such as Georges Méliès, Bruno Collet or Simon Lelouch.

The planned Montpellier Saint-Roch Multimodal Interchange Hub will meet future regional and urban public transport needs. It is also part of the urban redevelopment project around the Nouveau Saint-Roch district.

 

14/12/2011 : AMF, RFF and Gares & Connexions work together for the stations of tomorrow, and their surrounding areas

Jacques Pélissard, Chairman of the Association of French Mayors (AMF), Sophie Boissard, Managing Director of Gares & Connexions and Alain Quinet Deputy Managing Director of Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) today signed a charter with the aim of 'Working together for tomorrow's sustainable stations and their surrounding areas'.

 

12/12/2011 : Paris Lyon station upgrades its signage and renames its internal areas.

From 1 December 2011, Paris-Lyon is using new in-station signage and has renamed its areas. Find out all about it here.

01/12/2011 : 1er décembre 2011 : inauguration des 2 nouvelles gares TGV Rhin-Rhône

Nathalie Kosciusko-Morizet, French Minister for Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing, and Guillaume Pepy, Chairman of the SNCF, inaugurated the two new stations, Besançon Franche-Comté TGV and Belfort-Montbéliard TGV on Thursday 1 December, in the presence of Marie-Guite Dufray, president of the France-Compté regional Council, numerous politicians involved in this project and Hubert du Mesnil, Chairman of Réseau Ferré de France (RFF).

21/11/2011 : Regus chosen to develop a network of workspaces in French stations.

On Monday 21 November, through its business unit Gares & Connexions and global leader in flexible workspaces, Regus, SNCF signed an agreement to introduce business centres in the stations of Mans, Bordeaux, Nancy, Amiens, Paris Nord, and Lille Flandres.

11/10/2011 : Exposition en gare de Paris Austerlitz

Depuis le 11 octobre et jusqu’à fin novembre, Gares & Connexions présente aux voyageurs et passants de la gare Paris-Austerlitz, l’épilogue de l’exposition « Dans l’Ombre des Dinosaures » qui s’est achevée en juin dernier au Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle. C’est une partie du Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle qui s’invite sur les murs du Hall Muséum de la gare au travers de trois « lignages », réalisés par le duo d’artistes Les Chevreaux Suprématistes.

14/10/2011 : Retour sur l’apparition de Centaures en gare de Marseille Saint-Charles

Les voyageurs et passants de la gare de Marseille Saint-Charles ont assisté à un spectacle équestre
inédit les 12 et 13 octobre, entre 19h00 et 22h00. Surpris par des chevaux se baladant dans toute la gare, ils ont découvert avec émerveillement et curiosité les apparitions du Théâtre du Centaure.

10/10/2011 : 'Small is beautiful' at Marseille St-Charles station

Once again, parts of Marseille are being transformed into a setting for art, with creative displays and attractions. For the 5th Small is beautiful event, Lieux publics, the French national
centre for creative art will be taking over the station from 11 to 13 October 2011 to offer passengers some original shows. The event is supported by Gares & Connexions, and will liven up the journey for passengers over 3 days, from 6pm to 11pm. The station is being specially adapted for the occasion, to make room for the sheer number of artists.

 

 

27/09/2011 : From 29 September to 29 October 2011, Massy TGV station is celebrating its 20th anniversary

Massy TGV station was constructed in 1991, the result of a vision of the SNCF and local leaders who wanted to develop a new way to connect the TGV Atlantique, Sud-Est and Nord lines to Massy and surrounding towns.
From 29 September to 29 October 2011, passengers and passersby at Massy TGV station will be able to discover an exhibition called '20 ans de connexions' (20 years of connections), on the first-floor mezzanine. It tells the story of the station's creation in its urban surroundings and imagines its future.

22/09/2011 : Four applications shortlisted for the 'La Boutique du Quotidien', a new kind of shop for French stations.

Four proposals have been selected following the 'La Boutique du Quotidien' call for proposals launched in March 2011 with a view to selecting one or more partners to develop this new concept in French stations. These concepts have been put forward by:
• Relay France, in partnership with Casino
• Servex France, in partnership with Monoprix
• SSP France, in partnership with WH Smith
• Eliance

 

21/09/2011 : Paris Montparnasse station hosts its first monumental exhibition, called IMPORTANT

From 23 September to 20 November 2011, passengers and passersby at Paris Montparnasse station will get to witness a first-time event - a grand exhibition of photos hanging in the Pasteur concourse, with the evocative title - IMPORTANT. Denis Léger is based in Brittany and has photographed the region from some surprising and unusual angles, which take on a special dimension in the station.

 

16/09/2011 : Bike carriages in Paris stations, a new mode of transport for the autumn

This new electric transport service is available to passengers in 4 Paris stations until the end of December 2011. Electric bike carriages have been on trial since July, and provide transport around the city of Paris and between the 4 stations, from noon to 8pm. Find them on the station forecourt at Paris Austerlitz, Paris Est, Paris Saint-Lazare and Paris Lyon stations.

14/09/2011 : Paris Saint-Lazare station engineering works: new phase from 20 September 2011

Works at Paris Saint-Lazare station are organised so as to ensure that passenger services are not disrupted. An information campaign includes a guidance system to help passengers. Signage uses a pictogram of a guardian angel and shows route changes throughout the period of the works.

09/08/2011 : The railings of Paris Austerlitz station welcome their first exhibition.


Stations have always been a source of inspiration and creativity as places through which people pass, full of the promise of travel. In early 2011, SNCF, Gares & Connexions, the SEMAPA and the Paris Town Hall asked students on the 'Public Space' Masters course at the Institut d'Urbanisme de Paris to conduct a study on station use and practices.

26/07/2011 : Paris Saint-Lazare station engineering works - new passenger routes for passengers from 4 July to 19 September 2011

From 4 July to 19 September, passenger routes are being changed due to engineering works. The blue and pink routes, which help passengers find their way around, are being changed.

25/07/2011 : 4 huge paintings produced at Bordeaux St. Jean station

From Tuesday 26 July and throughout the summer, 4 huge paintings will be produced on the station forecourt by the graffiti-artist Sébastien Cartagena, to cover the walls of the old station ticket offices on level -1.

SNCF's 5th business unit, Gares & Connexions, is bringing that summer feeling to Bordeaux Saint-Jean station and catering for travellers' seasonal needs - leisure, relaxation and sun.

05/07/2011 : Passenger service points - a new and original concept in South of France stations from 3 July.

Gares & Connexions has introduced new 'Question de temps' passenger service points in Toulon and Aubagne stations, as from 3 July.
This innovative concept is a first for French stations, catering for travellers' and passers-bys' daily needs in the two stations such as buying presents, finding a plumber, getting clothes ironed or altered etc.

 

28/06/2011 : Taxi bikes in Parisian stations

This new electronic transport service which was tested out in Paris-Austerlitz, Paris-Lyon and Paris-Bercy stations in 2010 will once again be available for travellers in the 6 Paris stations from July until December 2011.

 

17/06/2011 : The 'Chartres en Lumières' festival will be in stations from June to September.

Gares & Connexions will be sponsoring Chartres en Lumières for the first time.  This big cultural event in the town of Chartres is being held from 21 May to 17 September 2011 from nightfall. Paris Montparnasse, Chartres and Eure-et-Loir stations are each celebrating this festival in their own way.

16/06/2011 : Belfort and Paris Est stations celebrate the Eurockéennes festival

Gares & Connexions is sponsoring the Eurockéennes festival, a big open-air music festival in France, for the first time from 1 to 3 July 2011.

The party starts on 16 June 2011, in Paris. Gares & Connexions s’associe pour la première fois aux Eurockéennes, grand festival de musique en France en plein air, se tenant du 1er au 3 juillet 2011. Elle le fêtera à partir du 16 juin 2011, dans les gares de Paris Est et Belfort à travers une exposition et des animations riches et variées. Ainsi, à Belfort, les voyageurs seront surpris entre autres par une bâche de 13 mètres de long, retraçant la folle ambiance du festival. Quant à la gare de Paris Est, elle verra ses grilles habillées de 23 photos : ambiances de concerts, vues de foule, portraits d’artistes, ils sont tous là ! De Ben Harper à NTM en passant par Alain Bashung en 2004; des moments inoubliables pour le public des Eurockéennes.

08/06/2011 : Kiosk: an innovative concept at Amiens station

This new 100m2 light-filled area was opened as KIOSK on 18 June 2011, and is the result of a partnership with the SERVEX marketing subsidiary linked to the NS (Dutch railway company).  Its simple and practical design offers a range of services including food products, iced coffees, fresh pastries and essentials.

08/06/2011 : The opening of the Champagne-Ardenne concourse in Paris-Est station.

On 8 June 2011 at 5:45pm, the Champagne-Ardenne concourse in Paris-Est station will be opened by Sophie BOISSARD, Executive Manager of Gares & Connexions and Jean-Paul BACHY, the President of the Champagne-Ardenne region. An inaugural plaque will be unveiled in the middle of the station.

 

01/06/2011 : Get a sneak preview of authors from the 'Chien Jaune' thriller festival at Quimper and Rosporden stations.

Quimper and Rosporden stations will be hosting the authors from the 'Chien Jaune' thriller festival on 1 June. These events give passengers, passers-by, and locals an unmissable opportunity to meet detective novel writers from Brittany. The 'Chien Jaune' thriller festival in Concarneau  will take place from 22 until 24 July 2011 in partnership with Gares & Connexions.

01/06/2011 : Brest station hosts the 'Ville et Vitesse' exhibition

From 1 June until 29 July 2011, Brest station is hosting the works of Brest painter Jean-Pierre Hue for the first time, with his 'Ville et Vitesse' (City and Speed) exhibition. He belongs to the neo-futurist movement and combines painting, drawing and staining on smooth, transparent media, such as glass, perspex or vinyl.

18/05/2011 : Mediterranean Photography Festival

Mediterranean culture is pulling into the station in May with the Mediterranean Photography Festival. From 18 May to 17 June 2011, Paris Lyon, Marseille Saint-Charles, Toulon and Avignon stations are celebrating Mediterranean culture by exhibiting photos from Photomed Festival. With beautiful images of countryside, ports, archaeology, art and fashion, as captured by the lens of famous photographers, passengers will be transported to Turkey.

For Europe Week from 9 to 14 May 2011, Nantes station is putting on the colours of the Festival of Europe: European flags bunting, pennants and balloons will bring a festive mood to the station.
Saturday 7 May from 4 to 6 pm, passengers can take part in two
activities, never before brought to a station, designed to facilitate access to reading, writing and
discovering Portuguese folklore.

05/05/2011 : SNCF Chairman Guillaume Pepy in Poitiers

On Thursday 5 May, Guillaume Pepy, the SNCF Chairman, accompanied by Pierre Boutier, SNCF Regional Manager, and Philippe Castay, Manager of Agence Gares & Connexions South West, will inaugurate two new areas created by Gares & Connexions in Poitiers station, an Information Point and a Contact Area. On Friday 11 February 2011 at 11 am, the brand new Porte de Buc entrance to Versailles Chantiers station will be opened in the presence of Michel Jau, Prefect of Yvelines, Jean-Paul Huchon, President of the Ile-de-France Regional Council and STIF (regional transport commissioning body), Alain Schmitz, President of Yvelines Council, François de Mazières, Mayor of Versailles, François-Régis Orizet, Regional Manager of the Réseau Ferré de France (RFF) and Sophie Boissard, Executive Manager of Gares & Connexions.

13/01/2011 : Paris stations gearing up for the ski season

After decking out stations for the holidays last summer, Gares & Connexions, the fifth business unit of the SNCF, is wrapping up Paris Lyon and Paris Montparnasse stations for a wintery start to the year. Our passengers' seasonal expectations are catered for in a friendly, warm atmosphere, promoting well-being and comfort.

21/12/2010 : Gares-en-mouvement.com improving urban connections

Gares & Connexions has added two new pages to the gares-en-mouvement.com, providing users with information on hotels, restaurants, leisure activities and transport facilities near stations. The new service was launched in November 2010 and is part of our commitment to connecting stations and towns to an ever greater extent. A key component is increasing passenger access to quality information on the services around our stations.

 

10/12/2010 : Holiday season in our stations

Throughout December, stations are being decked out in seasonal garb, with Santa Claus, huge Christmas trees, presents, Christmas treats, sweets and chocolate, and Christmas music.

 

10/12/2010 : 'Russia from the train' exhibition at Paris Est station

To provide a fitting end to the Year of France and Russia, Paris Est Station is exhibiting photos of 'Russia from the train' on its forecourt fences, from 16 December 2010 till 16 January 2011.

10/12/2010 : A Multimodal Transport Hub for Nice in 2013

On 3 December 2010, the Steering Committee approved an ambitious renovation project for the Nice-Thiers station and surrounding area. The heart of the project is a Sustainable Multimodal Transport Hub at the heart of city and the Nice transport network.

15/11/2010 : New devices dedicated to the information Travelers in station of Paris Saint-Lazare

On Wednesday, November 10th, 2010, Gares & Connexions set up two new devices dedicated to the information Travelers about the platform of the station of Paris Saint-Lazare. The originality of this concept? Its support in the shape of cylinder, showingthe schedules of trains in order alphabetical of the stations of suburb served since Paris Saint-Lazare. Its original size, equivalent to three classic screens, facilitates largely the reading.

Gares & Connexions, the fifth business unit of the SNCF, is introducing new in-station services to make daily life easier for travellers in terms of mobility, well-being and comfort. Gares & Connexions exists to develop stations into living spaces and to offer services which meet the needs of all station users.



21/09/2010 : Flash mob in Marseille Saint-Charles station in partnership with Marsatac

The first ever flashmob in a French station was organised at Marseille Saint-Charles station on 13 September 2010, with nearly one hundred people flooding into the main concourse and dancing to a mix tape.

18/09/2010 : Inauguration of the renovated façade at Paris-Nord

On Saturday 18 September 2010 at 4 pm, the new façade at PARIS NORD was unveiled in an opening ceremony, in the presence of Rémi FERAUD, Mayor of Paris 10th arrondissement.
The work was carried out by the heritage team of Gares & Connexions' subsidiary, AREP, which specialises in architecture and engineering. The main station building had its façade restored, as did the Eurostar pavilion and the former inner circle line station on Rue Faubourg Saint-Denis.

15/09/2010 : Monaco station awarded quality certification

Monaco station has just been granted quality certification for Railway Station Services. It was evaluated on 124 points by a jury which included the National Federation of Transport User Associations (representing consumers) and the Association of French Regions (representing the regional transport commissioning authorities). The AFNOR certificate was presented on 15 September at 11 am in the presence of SNCF Managers and officials from Monaco.

14/09/2010 : Marseille Saint-Charles twinned with Vladivostok station

On Tuesday 14 September 2010, a plaque was unveiled in Marseille Saint-Charles station, in the presence of a delegation from Russian Railways and SNCF representatives. It symbolises the desire of both stations to share their expertise.

03/08/2010 : Partnership signed between Réseau Ferré de France and Gares & Connexions

On 29 July 2010, Anne Florette, Real Estate and Buildings Manager of Réseau Ferré de France  (RFF), and Sophie Boissard, Executive Manager of Gares & Connexions (SNCF), signed a partnership agreement aiming to strengthen their cooperation and the efficiency of the work of each organisation in providing in-station services for passengers and rail companie.

 

15/06/2010 : Gares & Connexions supports photo festival in Arles

One ambition of our business unit is to bring culture into stations, and to share it with as many people as possible. With this aim in mind, Gares & Connexions is partnering the 'Rencontres de la photographie' festival in Arles, by displaying photos from the festival's 60 exhibitions in 6 stations from 3 July to 19 September. The stations are Marseille Saint-Charles, Nîmes, Avignon, Arles and Gare de Lyon in Paris.

20/04/2010 : Work in Paris Lyon station

Gares & Connexions, the SNCF's 5th business unit, is about to launch a major programme of works to make daily travel easier for passengers at Paris Gare de Lyon. It means that from 1 May 2010, passengers will have to go round the Salle des Fresques to reach the 'Yellow Zone'.

13/04/2010 : Gares & Connexions celebrates its first birthday

On Tuesday 13 April 2010, Sophie Boissard, Executive Manager of Gares & Connexions will be giving a progress report from the headquarters of the 5th SNCF business unit on the occasion of its first birthday. She will be accompanied by Jean-Marie Duthilleul, Chairman of the AREP Group and Sylvie Latour, Executive Manager of the A2C Group.

01/09/2009 : Promoting new forms of mobility

The Gares & Connexions business unit was founded by the SNCF in April 2009 and is responsible for the operation and development of the 3,000 railway stations across France. Gares & Connexions is headed up by Sophie Boissard, with a mandate to maintain, refurbish and develop
French stations in partnership with local authorities, in order to promote multimodal transport and to fit stations harmoniously into their role at the heart of towns and cities.

10/12/2009 : New outfits for 20,000 SNCF staff

SNCF staff in stations up and down France will be getting new uniforms as from January 2010!
The new outfits are designed to be both practical and innovative and to meet sustainable development criteria.
