The new Toulon station

Welcome to the Toulon multimodal interchange hub

Renovation work is underway at Toulon station as part of a partnership agreement including the French, PACA Region and Var département governments, the Toulon Provence Méditerranée organisation, the Town of Toulon, RFF and the SNCF.

The station is at the heart of an urban renewal zone and some ambitious development projects and a key link in the chain of the urban renovation programme undertaken by the town of Toulon and Toulon Provence Méditerranée.

By the end of 2013, local residents, passengers and customers will have access to a spacious station with new services and a high level of comfort.

The project has three aspects

• replanning of outside areas, connections between different modes of transport and accessibility, in particular for people with reduced mobility,
• structural work the historic building,
• development of in-station shops and services.

Work is underway to meet these objectives:

The main station concourse will be restored to its original size with the renovation of its historic ceiling. The concourse and east-west gallery provide all the services and functions required of an interchange hub.
The construction of two concourses sheltered from the summer sun and bad weather, with travel information displays.
The forecourt will serve as a pedestrian crossroads leading to the town, connecting to the coach and railway station, as well as:
-    two passenger drop-off points,
-    a taxi drop-off and pick-up area,
-   a two-storey car park and bike and motorbike park,
-    Auto/Train service.

Key stages:

June 2010: signing of the partnership agreement to fund the design and construction.
31 August 2011: instructions to the contractor to start work on the Multimodal Interchange Hub.
July 2012: completion of the ticket sales area, 204-space car park and renovated concourse ceiling.
